Autism Spectrum Disorder, commonly known as ASD, is a complex developmental condition that affects a child's communication, social interaction, behavior, and sensory processing. The "spectrum" part of the name highlights the wide range of challenges and abilities children with ASD can have. Some children may exhibit mild autism disorder symptoms and lead independent lives, while others may require significant support in daily activities from their parents and caregivers.
Children with language disorders have difficulty expressing thoughts and/or understanding what is said or written. Most child language disorders are developmental-that is, they show up as the child grows and develops and are not the result of known injury or other occurrence during childhood. An individual with a developmental language disorder may be only mildly affected or may be severely affected.
